IM_PULSE
IM_PULSE – is a social light sculpture and a sign of time in public, widely visible space. The project focuses on respect, tolerance and mutual respect as the only form of society that is worth living in …
After the former project series ‚MY HEART IN …‘, whereby buildings like the Baden-Baden State Theater or the building of the Oi-Futuro Foundation in Rio de Janeiro have already been turned into biosensory light objects, now the body based art intervention IM_PULS is going to be realized. Thereby the highest possible architectural landmark of Athens will be transformed into a heart controlled light sculpture.
Involved citizens like for example the mayor of Athens, an asylum seeker, a child, a homeless person, a teacher, a hospice patient, a cab driver, etc … will – by one persons per night – display their hearts ‚live‘-pulse through the kinetic illuminated top of the Lycabettus hill.
Starting at dusk, a public, far visible pulse-peak of these hearts illuminates the top and the exterior of the resident architecture by indirect lighting impulses. A modified clock measures and transmits the quiet, hidden, individual biofeedback to the outdoor installed lighting modules. The enclosed simulations outlines the functionality and appearance.
The interactive illuminated hilltop temporarily becomes a signaling, widely visible ’landmark‘ above Athens that initially generates a high public attention. Parts of the audience experience the abstract light kinetic unmediated and by coincidence. Therefore the artistic intervention and each of the daily changing participants (all citizens of Athens) will be introduced in advance by print-, social-/online- and tv-media.
The selected cross section of citizen stands in association with increasingly questions regarding our will and heart for solidarity, respect, diversity, common welfare (…). as well as: what matters community, how do we want to live and shape inevitable changing societies, nature and invironments (…).
