IM_PULSE – The Lycabettus Hill as one of the highest topographical landmarks of Athens is illuminated by the live transmitted pulse of a citizen. This signal, which will be widely broadcasted to the public space as also through the media, is a sign of respect and tolerance for one another as a prerequisite for a sustainable and livable form of society.
Previous projects such as „MY HEART IN RIO“, in which buildings became kinetic light sculptures through my and others heartbeat, now citizens from different parts of the country and social classes will become visible over borders through one of Athens most visible uprisings.
For this purpose, a modified clock transmits its individual pulse/heart rhythms to the preinstalled lighting on the top of the Lycabettus Hill. A group of approx. 20 people will send this pulsating live signal – in the row by one person per night – over a period of 20 (+/-) nights. The vita as well as wishes and hopes of the impulse-giving person is presented on an official online platform as also through classical and new media.
Before a background of complex global issues and an environment that is inevitably changing due to climate tipping, IM_PULS sees itself as a plea for diversity, solidarity, respect and tolerance for a community – and thereby the same respect for our environment – that can only endure through lived individual and mutual responsibility.
